Cougars Anonymous Just Got A New Member

Justin and I had some Christmas photos done today. We were pretty excited since our photographer is pretty well known in our area and has quite a beautiful body of work which I constantly stalk on Facebook.

When we arrived at the site of the photos the photographer asked if Justin was my son. I tried to shake this off, but I find that I am still ruminating on that statement hours later. I wonder if my eyes will be red with fury in the photos when we finally see them.

In all honesty maybe she asks this to all of her clients... But I am betting not. Also Justin does kind of have a baby face, and I do spank him a lot. Maybe she read my mind and heard me mentally daydreaming about spanking him or something. No wonder she is such a good photographer; she reads minds.

Anyway much to my surprise my best friend from high school had coincidentally hired the photographer for the time slot directly after Justin and me. I thought this was awesome since I had not seen her seven years or so. I found this extra odd since I just started talking to my best friend from elementary and middle school again. I guess my past is trying to creep up on me which is cool because I do miss all of my childhood  chums.

Before I go, I just so happened to click on my phone photos and found this gem from right before our photo shoot. Justin does look about 12.5 years old here. He was striking a pose for me, or perhaps in the process of stopping dead in his tracks and raising his hand to flip me off.

Sirius Black is Probably Going to Take Me to My Graduation

One class is officially finished as of this evening, and now I only have six more classes to complete before the end of the semester (incidentally only 12 more class periods amongst the six classes, not that I am counting). Speaking of the end of the semester I absolutely geeked out and handmade my graduation invites as you may recall. I figured I would share the invite since all but one has gone out. Okay so I just tore apart my closet and can't find the finished product but I did find the beginning of the invites in an old photo from my phone. This was before I straightened the edges and glued things on.
I swear these looked better without my personal information scribbled out, and once I evenly trimmed the edges and glued things in a more aesthetically pleasing manner.

And the diploma wound up on the back with the cap, and the front had way more of those jewels. Someday (probably not anytime soon) I will find the actual finished product.

I will have you know that I cut and pasted all of those decorations, I cut each individual cap from cardstock, I made the cap tassels from thread, crafted each tiny diploma with the utmost care, placed each individual jewel, super-glued my fingers together 956 times, and even made my own paper except not really on that last part. In all seriousness these bad boys did take me a LONG time to complete. I am somewhat proud of them because I need to validate the time that I spent on them so ya. But I probably should not have posted these photos because anyone reading this probably has their face in their palm shaking their head slowly back and forth while silently thinking 'that poor idiot girl.'

To take a complete 180, I wanted to announce that Justin and I got a new edition to the family. I know what you are thinking, unfortunately we have not collected our dozen cats yet but we did finally get a new car. I think its name should be Sirius Black because it is an escaped convict, okay not really but it is black, and since it is our car it does take a certain interest in Harry Potter so naturally Sirius Black just makes sense.

Plenty of Fish in the Sea

I had a text conversation the other day that went something like this:

Friend: Imagine this man coming to say hello when you are swimming in the ocean

Me: Those things are so awesome, they have a little light on their head that hangs in front of their face. Me would pet him then he would eat my hand win-win
Look how happy he is, so photogenic smiling for the camera. Photo Credit:  cafemom.com

Friend: (series of emoticons) 👍, 👙, ♥, 🌈, 🐬 , 🐳, 🐳, 🐠, 🐟 (for those who can't see the emoticons it is thumbs up, bikini, heart, rainbow, dolphin, whale, whale, fish, fish)

Me: Yes exactly, you know how I think 🍩. (doughnut emoticon) We can put donuts in that guys mouth and he would love it.

Friend: He sure would! Those teeth! EEEk!

Me: They are perfect for mashing donuts :)

Friend: I am sure that is exactly what he uses them for.

Me: Me too, because the world is made of marshmallows, rainbows and unicorns.

In other news my friend was unaware that narwhals were real prior to our conversation so it was one magical day.

Everyvoldy's Working For the Weekend

I had to give an oral presentation today in microbiology. I have such a hard time with that class since I am uninterested in the material.  I completed my presentation over Thanksgiving break and ran through it a few times this morning while getting ready for school. While I was reviewing things I couldn't help but mentally note the far too many references I had to Star Wars, The Hobbit, and of course Harry Potter.

My presentation was about that 'pet' I had grown and studied earlier in the year. I had swabbed the elliptical machine at our old apartment complex since there is absolutely no sanitation products available in the 24 hour gym that was open to everyone in the complex, and everyone not in the complex too since the gym did not require a key entry.  You may recall from one of my earlier blogs that I thought I had gonorrhea for my pet but it wound up being Kocuria rosea.  I was totally bummed because I wanted to talk about the fact that I had gonorrhea because I am pretty sure I will never get to say that in my life, except why should I even want to say that? It might sound cool but that is a terrible terrible disease. Gosh I am a weirdo.

Anyway I had this photo hidden on my presentation because I never took a photo of the actual machine I had swabbed to collect my pet:

You may recognize it as one of my artworks aka photo-shopped photos. I usually black out when I am delivering presentations but I know I mentioned Voldemort a few times because I just kept hoping that he who must not be named would come bursting into the classroom and provide a certain kind of whimsy which was just absent from my presentation since gonorrhea was no longer a thing.

My next presentation is on Monday. If all goes well that one will have a certain surprise element which I am just so excited about but that surprise element requires a lot of bravery so we shall see if I go through with my evil plan.

In two weeks from today I will be taking my final final exam. AHhhh, I can't believe my undergrad career is almost over. For all of our sakes I hope I do not lose anymore of my mind than I already have.

Feline Cop

Me: I would not want to be a cop.

Justin: Me either.

Me: I would be way too nice, and I would never meet any quotas.

Justin: Yes I just think it would be dangerous.

Me: And then I would pull people over and I would be like 'sir, you shouldn't speed... I am issuing your 27th warning.'

Justin: And you would probably talk about cats

Me: Yes I would be like pick a pocket, back left, back right, front left, or front right...

Justin: Then you would be at the vegan donut shop all day.

Me: Yes donuts would be wonderful. But when they picked a pocket they would get a picture of a narwhal, cat, elephant or owl depending on which pocket they picked.

Justin: Yes and people would just drive by going 100 mph and you would be like 'my mouth is too full of donut to chase you.'

Me: Yes and then all the criminals would figure out I like cats and so they would all have cats in their cars for me to pet in case I caught them doing something terribly wrong. Then they would be like 'if you don't arrest me you can pet this cat.' And every time I would be like, 'okay fine,' while eating donuts and petting cats.

The caption on this photo was "diabeetus cat graduates from cop school"  I don't know who the diabeetus cat is, but I like her. Photo Credit: http://imgur.com/gallery/mPTh21e

Collection of Cats

Things are truly coming together at our new casa. Soon the time will come when we run out of fix-it projects and start getting cats... lots and lots of cats. And the best part about cats?

I aspire to have as many cats as there are Harry Potter characters because then I can dress them all up as their namesakes and role play all day long. This is totally normal behavior no matter who you are. I don't care how tired I am right now, I am 99% sure that tomorrow I will still believe that this is one of the best ideas I have ever had.

Bibbidy Bobbidy Happy Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving; yay for that. I have been super busy with the time I have for my school break. I have accomplished a lot (unpacked most of our house, wrote a 15 minute presentation, wrote five 1-2 page essays for extra credit for one class, finished two 6 page essays for another class, completed over 200 online problems, took three pre-exams, finished a HUGE take home test and studied for my test Monday after the break), but I have so much more left to do. Thankfully I have completed as much as I have however, and at this point I would say I am half-way done with what I needed to accomplish over break. I am truly beginning to wonder what I will feel like once I graduate. I will actually have free time which will be wonderful.

Enough of that boring business, I just wanted to apologize for putting my blog on the back burner, I assure you I have done my fair share of writing over the past week. Now for some exciting news; I became a fairy god mother today :) I am so thrilled and beyond excited. One of my best friends had her baby girl baptized today and I get to be the godmother. All those years I have been striving to be a Disney princess I think I finally realized that was not my calling- I was supposed to be the fairy godmother all along which totally makes sense because I misplace things a lot and, I have a wand, and I often think about changing pumpkin’s into magical carriages.. okay maybe not so much on that last, but I do EAT a lot of pumpkin pie so that has to count for something.

Now if you will excuse me I do need to get back to my studies… and perhaps delve into the vegan pumpkin pie that Justin left for me because, hello! I am a fairy godmother now and I simply must act the part...
